Biochemistry Laboratory
Examination of biological fluids for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Most results are issued on the same day.
What the laboratory performs
The biochemistry laboratory examines biological fluids for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Tests are carried out both as ordered by a polyclinic doctor and independently, without a referral.
Hormones
Thyroid hormones (TSH, FT3, FT4), sex hormones (FSH, LH, prolactin), cortisol, thyroid peroxidase antibodies.
Lipid status
Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides.
Diabetes and carbohydrate metabolism
Glucose, glucose tolerance test (OGTT), glycated haemoglobin HbA1c, insulin.
Biochemistry
Creatinine, urea, bilirubin, protein, albumins.
Enzymes
AST, ALT, amylase, lipase.
Anaemia
Iron, ferritin, vitamin B12, full blood count.
Electrolytes
Sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium.
Tumour markers
PSA and free PSA, CEA, AFP, CA-125, CA 19-9.
Specialised tests
Vitamin D, thrombophilia panel, HPV-PCR and others.
How to take the tests
Blood sampling is carried out in the morning. For most biochemical parameters fasting is required — the last meal no later than 8–12 hours beforehand. Drinking water is permitted.
The exact preparation requirements depend on the particular test: you will be informed of them when booking. Some tests do not require any special preparation.
The laboratory operates at all three locations. The equipment includes both basic and automated analytical systems.
