Siemens Symphony 1.5 T Tim system

The magnetic resonance scanner is installed at the polyclinic in Sarajevo. The unit performs spectroscopy — a method that makes it possible to distinguish tumour from non-tumour changes without a biopsy.

Magnetic resonance imaging does not use ionising radiation: the image is formed by means of a magnetic field and radiofrequency pulses.

Examination results are usually ready within 24 hours, sometimes earlier. Images can be provided in digital form.

Methods

Types of examination

01

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

An examination without ionising radiation. Brain, spine, joints, abdominal and pelvic organs, heart, MR angiography, enterography, whole-body examination.

02

Computed tomography (CT)

A cross-sectional X-ray examination. Head, paranasal sinuses, chest and abdominal organs, CT angiography. If necessary — with intravenous contrast.

03

X-ray (RTG)

Detection of fractures and changes in the structure of bones and lungs. Images of the head, chest, spine, limbs, urography, hysterosalpingography.

04

Mammography and breast ultrasound

Examination of the breasts, including for the early detection of changes.

05

Ultrasound and Doppler

Ultrasound of the thyroid gland, abdominal organs, pelvis, soft tissues. Colour Doppler ultrasound of the blood vessels. 3D and 4D modes.

06

Dental radiography RTG/RVG

Targeted and panoramic images of the teeth, as well as volumetric imaging for treatment planning.

Preparation

How the examination proceeds

Before an MRI. Let us know in advance if you have a pacemaker, metal implants, clips, an insulin pump or a hearing implant — some devices are incompatible with the magnetic field. Before the examination, jewellery, watches and glasses are removed, and bank cards remain outside the room.

Duration. Depending on the area examined — from 15 to 55 minutes. Contact with the operator is maintained throughout.

Claustrophobia. Tell us about it when booking. We will show you the unit before the examination begins and explain how to stop the procedure at any moment.

Contrast. It is not always used, only when indicated. The doctor informs you in advance if contrast is needed.
